History of Magical Cat Adventure

Magical Cat Adventure (also known as "Catt" in Japan) was released in 1993 by Wintechno as an arcade platformer game. It is the only arcade game made by the company.

In this game, the player ventures into a mysterious and magical world as a cat with various abilities. The levels have a classic multi-layer horizontal layout with many different paths, enemies and power-ups. As the cat runs, he has to collect coins and gems, and fight enemies which have only one hit point and can drop a different power-up. Each power-up grants the player's cat a different attack. At the end of every stage, a boss must be defeated in order to advance.

The game is made in a very smooth and enjoyable way – the graphics are modern and appealing, and the gameplay is swift and solid. In the Japanese version it also has a storyline, different animations, extra graphics and slightly more difficult gameplay.

Despite being a nicely made platform game, Magical Cat Adventure turned out to be a flop. Most players found the game boring as there were only four actions that the cat could perform – run, jump, shoot and duck. The controls and the pace of the game felt clunky to many, and the game was considered to be too easy, as it only had 5 levels in total.

The game did not receive a sequel, nor was it ported to other platforms.
