History of Jump Kids

Jump Kids is an arcade platform 'beat them up' game, released by Comad in 1993. It is one of the company's early works, made in a humorous setting.

In the game, the player controls a huge baby (which, surprisingly, is as big as the opponents, who are mostly depicted as grown men) who knocks down various enemies with a mighty punch.

Apart from beating up shell crabs and men in suits, in different areas the baby has to face all kinds of aliens and strange monsters, some of which are able to shoot various projectiles. There are many different power-ups that can be dropped from the monsters. Some of the power-ups grant bonus points, while others provide different kinds of weapons and attacks. Each stage ends with a boss fight.

Jump Kids has good sense of humour and good animation. Apart from being slightly odd in its idea, it is an enjoyable and funny game.

However, several sources suggest that the game is more like a bootleg or a hack rather than an original creation as a lot of the game code has been taken from Data East's "Tumble Pop". Controversial reviews and questionable difficulty has made the game not as successful as the developers expected. It did not receive any follow-ups, nor was it ported to other platforms.
