History of Golvellius

Golvellius (also known as Maou Golvellius or Devil Golvellius) is a Japanese action adventure game that was developed and released by Compile in 1987.

In this game, the player takes role of a warrior named Kelesis, who ventures out into the dangers of the world to find and rescue Princess Rena from the devil Golvellius. In order to find him, Kelesis needs to beat seven demons that can be found in the caves scattered throughout the valley. There are many different enemies that will try to stop the warrior, as well as several friendly characters that will be there to help by increasing gold, giving potions or equipment and restoring energy.

The game quickly became popular and received a few different remakes and ports. In 1988 Sega has licensed the franchise and released their own remake of the game. It featured a different dungeon and overworld layouts, as well as enhanced graphics. It was released worldwide under the name Golvellius: Valley of Doom.

Golvellius was well received among the critics and the player community, taking the title of one of the best RPG games for the Sega Master System. It received a spin-off game called Super Cooks, which was included in the release of the Disc Station Special Shoka Gou, in 1989.
