History of Back Street SoccerBack Street Soccer is a Korean street soccer arcade game, developed and released by SunA Electronics in 1996. It was a first and only SunA's sports title and features character sprites that are considered to be ripped from a SNK Neo-Geo MVS basketball game called Street Hoop. In Back Street Soccer the player is offered with a selection of one of the 14 international soccer teams. There are several images of famous soccer players, such as Diego Maradona, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Roberto Baggio featured as backgrounds on the game's continue screens. The game itself is a traditional soccer simulator with a well-made visuals, backgound music and sound effects. All of the game's action takes place out in the street with a small local crowd cheering in the background. Two or four players can play simultaneously against each other, while single player mode has the computer for the opponent. The game is very well made - the graphics are designed to mimic the Street Fighter-style visuals and the soundtracks feature voice samples from the console basketball game Jammit. The high quality of the game made it desirable and relatively popular in its own genre. It is currently considered one of the rare collector's examples in its original form, but is widely available in flash and other similar versions all over the internet.
