History of Sel Feena

Sel Feena is an arcade action game, which was published by East Technology in 1991, in Japan.

In the game, the player controls a princess. She is able to pick up the chests that are lying in several locations on the screen, and throw them around. If the chest hits an enemy creature, the creature will get trapped inside, increasing the value of the chest. When the chest is thrown on a key, it will disappear, leaving gold coins and sometimes power-ups in its place.

The difficulty of this game, and also the most negative element that players mention, is the slow movement speed of the princess. Compared to the enemy creatures, she is almost two times slower, which results in no chance of escape once a creature starts following the princess.

There are few tricks, though, that add an escape together with a slight complication to the game. The princess can shoot a disabling attack in the direction that she is facing, and cause explosions around herself with a special attack. However, the speed of the creatures increases slightly throughout the levels, and they eventually receive special abilities.

The game has received many positive reviews, as well as some negative ones. It is often compared to Bomberman and Pirate Ship Higemaru in terms of gameplay. Nonetheless, Sel Feena is considered a unique and interesting game; challenging enough and yet satisfying to play.
